Mission Statement
The mission of Finance Division is:
1) Ensure all Department of Public Safety financial transactions comply with state laws, rules, and regulations by pre-auditing all financial transaction.
(2) Work collaboratively with Department of Finance and Administration and any other oversight agencies to ensure purchase orders, invoices and accounting entries are processed in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting policies.
(3) Ensure the Department meets spending capacity authorized by the Legislature and work in collaboration with the Department of Finance Administration’s Manual of Model Accounting Practices.
(4) Provide Customer Service support on financial transactions to external and internal end-users. While ensuring financial transactions follow laws, rules, and regulations that govern financial transactions.
The Financial Management Bureau is made up of three unit: Accounts Payable, Accounting and Procurement.
Accounts Payable Unit
The Accounts Payable Unit is responsible for processing invoices and paying financial obligations of the Department. The Accounts Payable Unit process over 18,000 transactions in a given fiscal year.

Accounting & Accounts Receivable Unit
The Accounting & Accounts Receivable Unit is responsible for reconciling financial transactions to sustain an overall Department operating budget of $160 million. This Unit is tasked with accounting for the Department’s revenue and expenditure activities within nineteen funds. This unit is pivotal for ensuring financial reporting meeting Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and other state laws, rules and regulations.

Procurement & Contracts Unit
The Procurement & Contracts Unit is responsible for processing over $43 million dollars of expenditures for good and contractual services in a given fiscal year. Overall, the Procurement & Contracts Unit process an average of over 3,000 purchase orders, over 50 contractual agreement and 55 building leases each year.
