Equal Employment Opportunity Bureau Mission and Role
The mission of the Equal Employment Opportunity Bureau is to promote equal access and treatment for all in order to promote a safe environment free of discrimination and inequity in accordance with DPS values, policies, and state and federal equal opportunity laws and regulations.
What do we do?
The EEO Bureau is responsible for ensuring compliance with DPS policy, state, and federal laws prohibiting discrimination and harassment on the basis of:
- Race/Color/National Origin/Ancestry
- Religion
- Age
- Physical or Mental Disability
- Serious Medical Condition
- Sex
- Sexual Orientation
- Sexual Harassment
- Gender Identity
- Spousal Affiliation
- Veteran Status
- Pregnancy
- Genetic Information
- Any other protected class status
How do we do this?
The EEO Bureau works to maintain working and learning environments free from protected class-based discrimination and harassment by:
- Investigating internal discrimination or harassment complaints
- Preparing and publishing an Equal Employment Opportunity Plan for DPS
- Serving as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator for DPS
- Serving as the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Coordinator for DPS
- Conducting civil rights-based training for all DPS employees and grant sub-recipients
