On July 24, 2023, Officer Ismael Perez responded to an emergency call regarding a mother in distress who had given birth on the way to the hospital. After arriving at the hospital, Officer Perez approached the vehicle and observed the baby unresponsive and still attached to the umbilical cord. Officer Perez began life saving measures and administered medical aid until the baby’s cries could be heard. Hospital staff arrived and provided further medical attention to the mother and what later came to be learned, a healthy baby boy.
