Aztec, NM – On May 17, 2023, at around 7:30 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash involving a single vehicle on US 550, north of Aztec, NM.
The initial investigation indicated that a 1998 Jeep SUV, driven by Salina Levi (29) of Aztec, NM was traveling southbound on US 550, approaching a left-hand curve. For reasons still under investigation, Ms. Levi failed to negotiate the curve and left the roadway, striking a tree, and rolled over. She sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Examiner.
Alcohol, speed, and failure to utilize seatbelts appear to be contributing factors in this crash.
This crash is being investigated by the New Mexico State Police.
