Socorro County, NM – On April 8, 2023, at around 2:00 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a double fatal crash involving a single vehicle on Interstate 25, at about milepost 183, south of Belen.
The initial investigation indicates that a 2018 four-door Chevrolet passenger vehicle, driven by a 22-year-old male was traveling north on Interstate 25. For reasons still under investigation the vehicle left the roadway and crashed. Two passengers in the vehicle, Brittny Ramos, 21, and Manuel Medrano, 65, both of El Paso, TX suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
The driver, along with a 5-year-old passenger were transported to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries and their current conditions are not known.
Fatigue is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts appear to have been properly worn. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
