Otero County, NM – On November 4, 2022, at about 9:16 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash at the intersection of Angelina Boulevard and Steve Drive in Chaparral, New Mexico.
The initial investigation shows a 2007 Toyota Corolla, driven by a sixteen-year-old male was traveling east on Steve Drive. For reasons unknown, the Toyota failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck a 2019 Dodge Ram truck traveling south on Angelina Boulevard. The driver of the Toyota and two passengers, a fifteen-year-old female, and an eighteen-year-old male sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
The driver of the 2019 Dodge Ram truck, a forty-year-old male, and his two passengers, a fifty-one-year-old female, and an eighteen-year-old male were transported by emergency personnel to a hospital in El Paso, Texas for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts do not appear to have been properly utilized by the occupants of the 2007 Toyota Corolla.
For the privacy of the family, the name of the driver and passengers will not be released by the New Mexico State Police. This crash remains under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
