Eddy County, NM – On September 15, 2022, at about 10:38 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash at the intersection of Porter Road and Carrasco Road south of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The initial investigation shows a 2018 Ford truck, driven by Tanner Walker (27) of Carlsbad, NM was traveling north on Porter Road. For reasons unknown, the 2018 Ford truck failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by a 2021 Ford truck traveling west on Carrasco Road. Walker sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
A thirty-five-year-old male passenger of the 2018 Ford truck sustained unknown injuries and was airlifted from the scene to a hospital in Texas. A second passenger, a twenty-three-year-old male was transported by emergency medical personnel to an area hospital for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The driver of the 2021 Ford truck, a thirty-one-year-old male, and his passenger, a twenty-four-year-old male were transported by emergency personnel to an area hospital for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts do not appear to have been properly utilized by the driver of the 2018 Ford truck. No additional information is available at this time.
