Eddy County, NM – On February 22, 2022, at around 5:30 p.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash involving a Ford pickup truck and a Freightliner tractor-trailer on New Mexico State Road 128 at milepost 2.
The initial investigation indicated that a Ford pickup truck driven by Brady Wills, 49, of Scott, Louisiana, was traveling west on State Road 128. Westbound traffic in front of the Ford was at a standstill due to traffic congestion in the area. For unknown reasons, the Ford rear-ended a Freightliner tractor-trailer that was stopped in the roadway. Wills, who was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
The driver of the Freightliner was not injured. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in this crash which is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
