Albuquerque, NM – As part of our proactive operations, the New Mexico State Police partnered with the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office in the recovery of two stolen vehicles and three firearms.
On October 3, 2023, the New Mexico State Police, in collaboration with the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, conducted proactive operations resulting in the recovery of two stolen vehicles, and three firearms, one being stolen, in Albuquerque. Albert Sedillo (36) from Albuquerque was apprehended near Carlisle and Montgomery in a stolen vehicle following a brief foot pursuit. He was charged with receiving, transferring a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of illegal drugs (Fentanyl and Methamphetamine), resisting and evading an officer along with two outstanding warrants. Sedillo had a violent criminal history. A male passenger, with Sedillo was charged with a warrant for probation violation.
In a separate incident, on the same day, a male juvenile was observed driving recklessly in a stolen vehicle with several other juvenile passengers. With the assistance of our Aviation Unit the juveniles were successfully taken into custody near Wyoming and Montgomery. The male juvenile driver was found to have a firearm in his possession. He was charged with receiving transferring a stolen vehicle and possession of a firearm. A male juvenile passenger also had a firearm. He will be charged at a later date. The males were documented gang members. Two female juvenile passengers were released to their guardians.
“My officers are doing incredible work in keeping New Mexicans safer. Every gun taken from a criminal off the street, is potentially one more violent gun crime my officers are preventing from happening to law abiding citizens or to the officers themselves.” -said New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler.
