Lincoln County, NM – On May 23, 2023, at around 10:50 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash involving a pickup truck and Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) on NM70, east of Hondo, NM.
The initial investigation indicated that a 2008 Ford Truck, driven by Manuel Noriega, (40) of Riverside, NM was pulling out of a driveway onto NM70 near mile marker 300 when a 2014 Peterbilt CMV hit the Ford Truck on the driver’s side. Mr. Noriega suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. A female passenger and a male passenger in the Ford truck were flown to a nearby hospital. Their conditions are not known.
Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in this crash.
This crash is being investigated by the New Mexico State Police.
