Santa Fe County, NM – On September 4 at around 11:47 p.m., New Mexico State Police officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near milepost 268 south of Santa Fe.
The initial investigation indicated that a 2013 Ford F-150, driven by Jacqueline Amber Bailon, 26, of Santo Domingo, NM was traveling south on Interstate 25 at a high speed. Bailon collided with the rear end of a 2001 Ford F-150 that was also traveling south on Interstate 25.
The impact caused the 2001 F-150 to roll. Juanita Ojeda, 63, of Albuquerque suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The 60-year-old-male driver and 15-year-old-male passenger of the 2001 F-150 were transported to a Santa Fe hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Jacqueline Amber Bailon, who was uninjured in the crash, was arrested on the scene. She was charged with Homicide by Vehicle while Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and or Drugs. She was booked into the Santa Fe Adult Detention Center.
All occupants in the 2001 F-150 appear to have been properly wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Excessive speed, alcohol, and or drugs are believed to be contributing factors in this crash which remains under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
